As we crossed the threshold into August, we arrived at a powerful midpoint in the wheel of the year, the halfway mark between summer and autumn. This time is known as Lammas, the first harvest, a moment for celebration and gratitude for what has been growing. It’s a soft turning, an invitation to begin gathering what’s ripe while gently acknowledging what may soon fall away.
August always strikes me as an in-between month. Neither fully summer nor quite autumn, it holds a liminal quality. Time feels a little off-kilter. Plans shift. Energy is up in the air. Many of us feel slightly disoriented, discombobulated even, and yet, this is exactly what makes August the perfect time to reset, realign, and reframe.
It’s a month that asks for pause.
It asks for presence.
It asks us to celebrate.
Not the big, performative kind of celebration, but the quiet, nourishing kind. The kind that reminds you that you’ve made it this far. That you're still here. That even in the chaos or the questions, you’ve grown.
We live in a culture that worships productivity. That urges us to hustle, compare, and keep pushing through. So often we’re caught in the loop of doing more, chasing more, feeling like we’re not enough. I return to this theme often, because it’s something we all need to remember:
More isn’t always better. Doing it all isn’t the goal.
Sustainability, emotional, physical, creative, isn’t born from burnout. It’s born from slowing down enough to listen. From allowing ourselves to be before we do. August, in its softer pace, gives us that chance.
For many, August means school holidays or slower schedules. And ironically, it’s often during these moments of pause that we finally feel the weight of our own exhaustion. When the adrenaline wears off, our bodies speak up.
But that too is sacred. That too is part of the harvest.
So here’s your invitation this month:
Celebrate the small things.
Honour your rhythms.
Take stock of what’s grown in your inner world this year, what’s shifted, what’s survived, what’s still unfolding.
Let yourself be present with what is, rather than what you feel should be.
What does celebration look like for you right now?
Does it require you to “achieve” something first, or can it be found in a moment of sunlight on your skin, in a quiet cup of tea, in the recognition that you’re still breathing?
Do you overlook celebration because life feels heavy or uncertain? Can you honour yourself even here, in the midst of it all?
August is a rose in full bloom, fleeting, fragrant, and worthy of our full attention. Breathe it in. Soften into your heart. Celebrate how far you’ve come, even if this year has asked everything of you. Especially then.
Let this be the month where you fill your own cup, slowly and intentionally. When we pour into ourselves, even in the smallest ways, something quiet and magical begins to build. That energy carries us forward, not from force, but from fullness.
So, celebrate this moment. Celebrate yourself. And don’t forget: you’re already enough.
All My Love
