As the wheel turns once again and we step into autumn here in the Northern Hemisphere, we arrive at the equinox, a point of perfect balance. A day where light and dark stand equal, inviting us to pause and reflect on the balance within our own lives.

(If you are reading this in the southern hemisphere here’s a blog post for you as it’s sping. )

I’ve always found something deeply magical about the equinox. It happens just twice a year now its autumn the other is spring, these liminal thresholds where the seasons shift and we are reminded of our own inner scales, how we carry both light and dark, rest and action, fullness and emptiness. Nature holds the mirror, and we’re asked to look at where balance lives in us right now.

The thing is, balance isn’t a fixed or universal measure. It’s not about symmetry or perfection. What feels like balance to me may look very different for you. It shifts with time, with seasons, with what we are holding and what we are ready to let go of. The equinox shows us the ideal of balance, but in our lives, it’s about tuning into our own version of it, our own centre point.

Autumn, especially, asks us to notice what’s ready to fall away. Just as the leaves turn gold and drift to the ground, we too are invited to loosen our grip on what’s weighing us down. It might not be big, dramatic changes, sometimes it’s simply releasing small things that clutter our space or cloud our clarity. This is the season of the gentle edit, the soft letting go.

I like to think of it as the autumn edit. A chance to realign, to make space, to create more cosiness in our homes and more spaciousness in our hearts. Maybe that looks like clearing a corner of your room, or journaling to release something you’ve been holding onto. Maybe it’s just saying no more often and letting yourself rest.

Autumn naturally pulls us inward. After the brightness and busyness of summer, we’re invited to gather in, ground ourselves, and prepare for the darker months ahead. It’s a season that supports deep reflection and healing, if we allow it. Getting outside, walking among falling leaves, breathing in that crisp autumn air, all of it reminds us to come back into our bodies. Embodiment and grounding are what help us move through life with more steadiness when everything around us feels fast or disorienting.

So let this equinox be your reset. Your reminder that balance isn’t something we achieve once and hold forever, it’s something we return to, again and again. Take some time for your own autumn edit. Ask yourself what needs to be released, what wants to be nurtured, and how you can create balance for the season ahead.

Happy autumn. May you find your centre, soften into the magic of the season, and let nature guide you back to yourself.

How are you feeling this equinox? I’d love to hear.

All my love
