October in the Northern Hemisphere feels like a deep exhale. The air cools, the light softens, and the trees begin their slow, graceful surrender. It’s that sweet spot where autumn fully arrives , with her pumpkins, cozy jumpers, flickering candles, and the scent of cinnamon and woodsmoke in the air. This is me in a nutshell.
But beneath the surface of all the pumpkin spice and Halloween fun, October carries a quieter invitation, to pause, reflect, and realign.
As the leaves fall, we’re reminded of the beauty of letting go. The earth shows us that release isn’t failure, it’s part of the natural rhythm of life. And if we listen closely, we can feel that rhythm within ourselves too.
The energy of this month
This is a month of transition, a bridge between movement and stillness.
September often holds onto summer’s last golden threads, but October draws us fully into autumn’s embrace. Nature slows down, and so too are we invited to.
In the wheel of the year, the end of October, Samhain or Halloween, is a symbolic “new year.” It marks the closing of one energetic cycle and the beginning of another. That makes this a powerful time to:
Reflect on the year so far, what’s been gained, what’s been lost, what’s been learned.
Clear space for what you want to welcome next.
Rest deeply before the busyness of November and December begins.
Numerologically, October is a month 1 in a year 9, a combination that speaks of new beginnings emerging from endings. It’s a potent reminder that even as things fall away, new seeds are being planted beneath the surface.
How to work with Octobers energy
This month, let your life mirror the season: slower, softer, intentional.
Here are a few ways to tune in:
Reset Your Space
Create a sense of sanctuary at home. Light a candle, tidy your corners, open the windows to let fresh air and energy flow.
Refresh your space with scent, oils, herbs, incense, or a simmer pot.
Add textures that comfort you: blankets, cushions, soft lighting.
Let go of clutter, physical or emotional, that no longer feels aligned.
Check in with Yourself
Every season brings new lessons. Pause to ask yourself:
What am I ready to release?
What am I inviting in?
How do I want this season to feel for me?
What would make my days feel more spacious and supportive?
Cozy Joy and Rituals
Sometimes the simplest joys anchor us the most.
Embrace the playful side of the season, Halloween movies, baking, walks among crunchy leaves.
Make a ritual of warming drinks, journaling by candlelight, or resetting your altar if you have one.
Honour your transitions, both seen and unseen.
In a world that often feels loud and chaotic, October offers us a moment to come home to ourselves. The contrast between the outer noise and inner quiet can feel striking, but that’s the gift. It reminds us to ground, nurture, and listen inwardly.
If you have the privilege of a safe space, treat it as sacred.
Let it hold you while you rest, reflect, and realign.
And if life feels messy or uncertain, know that you’re not alone in that. The trees don’t resist their shedding; they trust the cycle. We can, too.
Your October reflections
As you move through this month, take time to slow down, breathe, and notice what this season is asking of you.
What are you ready to release?
What wants to be nurtured?
How can you make space for joy, even in transition?
I’d love to hear , what does October mean to you?
What rituals or small comforts help you feel grounded as the season turns?
All my love
